African American Film Festival

Make it a blockbuster month with the African-American Film Festival as Lay Park celebrates Black History Month! Lay Park will host its fifth annual African-American Festival beginning Saturday, February 6 with the family oriented film "Ruby Bridges." The Festival continues February 20, with another family-oriented movie. All films are presented at 2 p.m. Admission is free and refreshments are provided. "Deadland" AND "Clones Gone Wild" Screening At Dixie Film Fest

We are honored to be screening back in Athens, GA, and extremely excited about double-featuring with our short film "Clones Gone Wild" playing with it the 2009 Dixie Film Festival! Many of the core team that made Deadland made Clones, so come see the "two different sides" of Deadeye Films in one showing!

Gonzoriffic

Local underground film making group GONZORIFFIC returns for its third midnight movie show, this time spotlighting its non-horror productions. In addition to the premiere screenings of THE EROTIC COUCH and FOX HOLES (written and directed by Monica Puller), the evening will also feature a small exhibit of never-before-seen photography by Andrew Shearer.

Since first meeting at a punk club in 1999, Puller and creative partner Andrew Shearer have worked closely together to produce over 25 films, including the acclaimed 2007 feature-length mockumentary FAKE BLOOD, which they also wrote and starred in.

Georgia Theatre Documentary

"With the tragic burning of Athens’ beloved Georgia Theatre in the recent past, the Athens music scene remembers daily the great loss of a historical venue. Theatre and music scene supporters around Athens have rallied their efforts to raise money for the rebuilding of the Theatre and the restoration of a necessary venue to the Athens music scene. Though the original Theatre can never be replaced, Athens’ musicians and concertgoers look forward to 2011 and the completion of the Theatre’s rebuilding."

ADDICTED TO PLASTIC, MILKING THE RHINO at EcoFocus Film Festival

David Sprinbett's MILKING THE RHINO and Ian Connacher's ADDICTED TO PLASTIC will receive several screenings during the month-long EcoFocus Film Festival in Athens, GA. Some free screenings will be held at the University of Georgia's Ecology Auditorium. Most screenings will take place at CINE in downtown Athens:

Classic City Arts is pleased to present it's first production - Moliere's "The Bourgeois Gentleman" – to the world via our website at www.classiccityarts.com on Tuesday, April 14th. To celebrate, we are inviting everyone with an interest in community arts to join us at Ciné (234 West Hancock Avenue ) on Monday, April 13 as we unveil the video to the public for the first time.

If you were fortunate enough to catch the show last week, then this will give you an opportunity to see it in a whole new light as we move from angle to angle and get closer to the action than live theatre will allow. This will also be the first time the cast and crew will actually see the show so you can join us for an exciting, yet harrowing, experience.

Is Inequality Making Us Sick? - Unnatural Causes Film & Discussion Series

Episode 1: In Sickness and in Wealth. Part of the 2009 Unnatural Causes Film and Discussion Series, exploring ways in which inequities and discrimination shape health. This screening shows the documentary's first episode, which introduces the topic by following four Louisville, KY residents.
